$LD_LIBRARY_PATH not working
I've been trying to install xine-lib to work with xine-ui-xxx for the longest time but with no luck. I've learned that if I add environment variable $LD_LIBRARY_PATH to .bash_profile then this should fix things. So, I've added:
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH="/usr/local/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH". The problem I have is when I type $LD_LIBRARY_PATH the directory is not where the files should be but when I type in /usr/local/lib I get the right directory with appropriate lib files. So, the environment variable doesn't correspond to the actual /usr/local/lib path defined in .bash_profile. I've never seen this before!
Does anybody know what is going on here? Usually when I type $CATALINA_HOME or $JAVA_HOME I get the directory corresponding to a variable but in the case of $LD_LIBRARY_PATH it's not what it should be. Also, maybe someone knows how to make xine-lib work with xine-ui so to avoid the environment variable problem? Your help will be greatly appreciated.
