    minor 'problem' but odd

I mostly use Fedora 6 on my desktop in the GUI, and always shut it down from there, But frequently when I boot it, it will come up in the first terminal window and not the GUI logon. It's no real problem, its easy to press ctrl-alt-F7 and get where I want to be. But I'm curious what's going on.
    Does anyone know?

What is the runlevel set in your inittab file? Should look like this

    # Default runlevel. The runlevels used by RHS are:
    # 0 - halt (Do NOT set initdefault to this)
    # 1 - Single user mode
    # 2 - Multiuser, without NFS (The same as 3, if you do not have networking)
    # 3 - Full multiuser mode
    # 4 - unused
    # 5 - X11
    # 6 - reboot (Do NOT set initdefault to this)

Set the id: to 5 if you always want the system to boot to GUI.

I might be mistaken, but I think it's set by the default tty in the /etc/inittab file.
