    FC4 to FC9 update problem

Hi Just updated FC4 to 9 last night and am having problems.

    - xserver not running
    - apache not running
    etc, etc

Was this too big of a jump in versions?

    question about yum:
    - if I run yum update I get a whole list of packages and they all say ' set to be updated'
I then get an error about rsyslog conflicts with syslogd and then it stops
Has the update process stopped because of this error? How can I continue the updated process bypassing this error.

I do not know if running yum update would solver the majority of my other issues

did you do a fresh install of FC9 over FC4 or did you use some other kind of update mechanism? a clean install shouldn't run into any problems like this

I did not do a fresh install. I downloaded files from Fedora and then during installation when it asked if I wanted to install or update I chose update.

I recommend doing a fresh install, backup important files (or maybe you have a separate partition for /home) and then install fedora 9 from CD
