I cannot start the X server | Scientific Linux

Hi, i'm a new user of linux ( one week ago) and I'm blocked! I need help. When I started my computer, it says:

/I cannot start the X server. It is likely that it is no set uo
correctly. Would youlike to view the X server output to diagnose the
    problem?/

    When I click Yes, then:

    /GDM: Xserver not found: /usr/X11R6/bin/X :0 -audit 0 -auth
    /var/gdm/:0.Xauth -nolisten tcp vt7/

/Error: Command could not be executed./

/Please install the Xserver or edit /etc/X11/gdm/gdm.conf to point
    the right place./

    I must to do... what?

    Thanks!

    Hi and Welcome !

Which version of RedHat / Fedora are you using? Have you tried this
    Code:
    system-config-display
    ?
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

I execute that and the systems says me:

    Code:
    cat /etc/*release*
    cat: /etc/lsb-release.d : Is a directory.
Scientific LinuxIFIC SLI release 4.4 (Beryllium)
    Code:
    cat /etc/issue
Scientific LinuxIFIC SLI release 4.4 (Beryllium)

    Code:
    su -
    /sbin/lspci | grep -i vga
    grep -i driver /etc/X11/xorg.conf
grep: grep: No such file or directory.
grep: driver: No such file or directory
    su: user /sbin/lspci
