    Linux FTP query

    Hi Folks ,

    Just while configuring my Linux RH 9.0 as FTP server , i think i messed up with configuration files ..... Now whenever I do FTP .... I just get this message ...... Connected to 10.12.X.X ..... And nothing else ....Not even FTP prompt .... !!
    Could you tell me what must have went wrong ..... I m using wu-ftp package . Plz tell me if u want any more data .... . Thanx in advance . Bye .

    seems ur firewall is blocking incoming FTP requests. Check it out.

    What about on the machine your connecting FROM?

    FTP (unlike most protocols) uses multiple TCP connections. The exact details of which are too in depth to explain in one post, google for "FTP RFC" for the technical documentation for the FTP protocol if your interested.

    Thanx 4 reply Jason but there is no fw from the machine i m trying to connect to . And one more thing i hav found now is that ...When I tried to do FTP from internet explorer I could manage to get authentication box ..... Does that give u any hint ?? . waiting 4 reply .
