    not able to play video files.....

    why is this happening,.....


    this is the 1st step i try after i try to make my fedora play some video/audio files...



    please help

    I'm curious why you would be removing media players with yum instead of installing them. If you want to play video files, you're going to need those plug-ins. But first, have you added the livna repositories for Fedora 8? (I'm only assuming Fedora 8 from the mirrors link in your post.) Execute, as root:
    Code:
    rpm -ivh http://rpm.livna.org/livna-release-8.rpm
    You'll then have access to most of the apps you need for media play-back. Info can be found here: Link. Let us know how it goes!

    You can install VLC, which supports a lot of media files(including mp3,wma,flv and ogg) without the need for codecs.
    Code:
    yum install vlc
