Sorry for not responding, but I've found a workaround. I installed Fluxbuntu (based off of Ubuntu 7.10), and then used:
    Code:
    sudo aptitude install ubuntu-desktop
to install Ubuntu 7.10, and it worked. Unfortunately, when I upgraded to Ubuntu 8.04, it wouldn't load for me

Again, thanks for trying, and do you have any ideas for why Ubuntu 7.10 works fine but 8.04 stops about halfway at load, then restarts and repeats the same process?

No, but I'm not really a *buntu user. You might want to start a thread in the Ubuntu section of the Forums for help with that one.
