    hi,

    I have a slice i.e. /var is with 1GB space.

    now, df -h /var is showing 100% used but du -h /var is showing 70% (0.7GB) usage.

Please help me to get out of this problem.

    - df will say that the disk space is free when only the process which accesses
    it got terminated
    - du will only say the files which are having inode entry,
    - so the df and du will not match normally,
    - use lsof command to find that when there is difference.

    reference
Why command df and du reports different output?
