    yum and openoffice

    Hi all,

I tried to upgrade openoffice through 'yum' but it would always tell me that there are No Packages marked for Update. I downloaded the latest package from openoffice website. How can I install it through yum?

    thanks

The package you downloaded isn't meant to be used with yum. You downloaded a tarball. You'll have to navigate to the directory that you downloaded to, and execute
    Code:
    tar -xvjf <package_name>

What happened when you tried to unzip it? Did it throw any errors?

Couldn't even go there. Linux crashed on me when I was trying to figure out how to do it before I read your post
Read my new thread if you're interested or can help me restore the system

    Thanks
