DVD cannot be detected on Fedora 9
I'm a newbie in Linux. My company want to install Fedora 9 on their machine as system server.
I already installed Fedora 9 on this machine:
- Motherboard: MSI
- Processor: Core 2 Quad
- P35 Neo2-FIR
- On-Board IDE/SATA: One Ultra DMA 66/100/133 IDE controller integrated in Marvell® 88SE6111 and SATAII controller integrated in ICH9R and Marvell® 88SE6111 chipset.
Detailed on MSI -- MICRO-STAR INT'L CO., LTD.
After installing Fedora, the DVD is not detected. I also try to add all-generic-ide=on in grub kernel line, but the DVD cannot be detected. When I try to install with AHCI enabled or not (with IDE only), the result is same, the DVD is not detected.
Can anybody help me to solve this problem? Many thanks.

you can't find it in /dev/??? if it's there you can use the mount command..
if it's not there, make sure it is properly connected to your mobo (ide cable & power line)
or maybe it's some other freaky problem :P dunno, i'm a newbie myself...

I successfully installed Fedora from this DVD-ROM. So it is properly connected. But I can't find it in /dev/cdrom or /dev/dvd.
I think this Marvel chipset with AHCI make this DVD device not detected on this machine. But how to make this DVD-ROM available on /dev/ ?
