    I am having GParted trouble

    Ok here goes I am trying to create free space on my Drive and Cparted is not doing anything other than moving the 7MB of it I already have. Any suggestions?

    When you boot into Gparted, are you actually trying to shrink a partition? Because you should be able to just slide the target partition to the left or right, and hit 'apply'?

    also sometimes your drive needs to be unmounted

    You might want to try running gparted from a liveCD such as PartedMagic. Doing so helps you to get around a few issues that you can run into when running it directly from a hard drive.
