Question Sorting photos and videos by their creation dates

Hi. Is there anywhere on my fedora 8 box (command line or otherwise) that I can sort my photos and videos by the dates they were taken by my Cannon MV106? With hexedit I can see the following lines, but I can't sort by it.

    Code:
    0000032C 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 49 44 49 54 ........................IDIT
    00000348 1A 00 00 00 53 75 6E 20 4D 61 72 20 20 32 20 31 37 3A 34 34 3A 35 37 20 32 30 30 38 ....Sun Mar 2 17:44:57 2008
    00000364 0A 00 4C 49 53 54 18 00 00 00 49 4E 46 4F 49 53 46 54 0C 00 00 00 43 61 6E 6F 6E 4D ..LIST....INFOISFT....CanonM
    00000380 56 49 30 36 00 00 4A 55 4E 4B 72 04 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 VI06..JUNKr.................
I need to sort by the creation date in order to splice my photos with my videos in a time-wise fashion.

    Hi,

You could try renaming your files with jhead.
    Code:
    su -
    yum install jhead
I've never used it myself, but it looks promising. Here's a link. Hope it helps.

Edit: I've just installed jhead and tested it - and it works like a charm. I used jhead -n%Y-%m-%d_%H:%M:%S *.jpg to rename some pictures that I took with my cellphone. Take a look at man jhead for more information. It only works with JPEGs, though.
