    Error in System clock

    Gents,

I have a dual-boot setup in my PC. I have Fedora 9 as well as Windows 2000. The installation of Fedora 9 was very recent (2 weeks back). I am now facing a strange bug in my PC (could be in Windows, or in Linux).

My geographical location is Calcutta, which +5.30 GMT. I have configured my Windows clock based on it. First I set the GMT time, and then set it to Calcutta time zone. The time displayed was exactly correct. It was around 2:30PM GMT and around 8:00PM IST.

I then logged into Fedora, and found out that the system clock was showing a different time. It was showing a time which was +5:30 Hrs ahead. It was like Fedora has taken that 8:00PM IST is actually 8:00 GMT, and added +5:30 Hrs again. In my Fedora also I have set the time as Calcutta only.

Has any noticed such a thing before?

    Regards,
    sachin.

yeah that happened to me as well. Try doing this, press F12 or F2 or whatever button it is to go into your BIOS settings. In there you should be able to find system time. If you change that time then you shouldn't have anymore problems.

Okay, will try that out. So you mean to say configure my local time in the BIOS setup and that should do the trick

I found another fix for this without changing the BIOS clock. This is what I did.
    1. In Fedora I choose my time zone as GMT and set the London Time. Logged out.
    2. Started Windows logged in and changed the time zone to GMT and set the London time.
    3. Logged in back to Fedora 9 and changed my system time zone to Calcutta (+5:30 GMT). The clock time automatically changed to the time I had on my wall clock. Logged out
    4. Logged in to Windows and changed my system time zone there too.

Both Windows and Fedora have their clocks working correctly after this.
