Newbie wanting to connect to the Internet

Hi, I first would like to say that I just got linux installed and know as much about it as an infant knows about quantum mechanics. The computer I have originally came with Windows XP installed. I decided to get a second Hard drive and installed Red Hat Fedora Linux on it. I did so and the installation went fine but I am having trouble connecting to the Internet with Linux. I have a DSL connection that uses a usb cable. The computer that has linux is not connected to the Internet through a router it's directly connected to the DSL modem. Of course, when I boot from the Hard Drive with Windows XP my internet works fine. My problem is that I have no idea where to begin. I am looking for step by step instructions to get this accomplished. Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks! That guide worked perfectly. I am even writing this reply on my Linux OS.
