Can't get out of "Enable Desktop Effects"

    I JUST installed Fedora10.
I was looking through all of the menus and chose to "enable desktop effects"
my screen went white, then I saw a picture in the middle, then it went white again. I cant get it back to normal. I can't do anything. I don't want to reformat and reinstall so PLEASE help!

How do I get back to the normal desktop window so I can do ANYTHING?

    Thanks!

I found a person with the same issue but the reply to fix it doesn't make any sense to me.

This says that all the window decorations are gone and it seems like the window manager is not running, which is exactly what has happened to me.

    I tried alt-every key and ctrl-every key
even ctrl-alt-del several times in a row.

the window manager is completely gone!
    HELP!

I booted to my CD and I can't get to the external drive where my fedora installation is. I'm guessing I may find xorg.config there but I can't get to it.

This is a drastic measure and should only be used if you are desperate.
Rename or just delete your ~/.kde or ~/.gnome and ~/.gnome2 directories, this will reset your entire desktop, backgrounds, themes and other stuff.
About xorg.conf, newer versions of xorg do not use the xorg.conf file, if you feel that you need one then you may create it yourself and xorg will use it, if you set it up correctly.

Also if you get this fixed, you might be interested in using this tool once it is working again. I am assuming you are running Gnome Desktop from reading the bug report.
