Question Live F10 CD boots to "Out of Range"

I am currently running F8 and would like to upgrade to F10. I downloaded and burnt the F10 Live CD. I built a second system from unused parts to test out F10 to see if I liked the changes. It installed and ran fine so I built F10 on the hard drive for that system. I did find some definite improvements and fixes over F8.

So I decided I would update my regular system to F10. However, when I boot the Live F10 CD on my regular system the monitor eventually goes to "Out of Range" and I have to pull power to regain control (Ctrl-Alt-Backspace works sometimes). I've tried a few variations like booting the F10 in text mode and it seems to run fine until I run startx to bring up X. Then the "Out of Range" happens.

I've searched this and a few other forums for fixes. My video adapter in my regular system is a Maxtor G450 (running single head) and an ATI in my second jury-rigged system. I have found a few mentions of potential mga driver problems or problems with the updated X server in the F10 distribution but nothing that matches completely. I am worried because some of those reported problems are very old and go back to previous Fedora releases.

I could upgrade my system from another form of F10 distribution but I'm hesitant to do so until I'm sure it's going to work. I don't want to over-write my hard drive until I'm sure I won't wipe myself out. Any suggestions to try? Any logs I can post to help?
