Help in installation
Hi Guys,
I'm a new member in this community and needed some help regarding the installation of Fedora 10 on my machine. My laptop model is Gateway MT6821 and has Windows Vista pre-installed on it. When I put in the disc to install linux and try to boot from it, the system is not able to recognize the installation and after a few seconds pause, it starts booting windows vista. This is my first time installing linux on my machine and I have no previous experience in working with linux. I really need linux on my machine urgently for my coursework in college. Any help is appreciated.

Did you change your BIOS settings so that the CD drive is first in boot priority?

Yes I certainly did that. It just shows a blank screen for a few seconds and then resumes the usual vista booting.

Did you purchase the Fedora CD?
Did you download it as an iso image? If so, when you copied it to CD, did you burn it as an image file? Did you do the md5 checksum before burning? When you have windows running and put the Fedora CD in the drive are you able to open it and see several folders/files? If it is just one iso image, it won't work.

Welcome to the forums!
If you only see the ISO file on the installation CD, you burned it improperly. Check this HowTo for properly downloading the ISO file, and then burning it to disk as an image:
