Are you actually using Redhat 9 or Fedora 9? If you have Redhat 9, then you might want to consider a newer version.

I agree with MikeTbob. RedHat 9 is an obsolete distro. It doesn't support most of new Hardware and software/security updates are not available for it.

I would suggest you to install Fedora 10. It is RedHat based and free to download/install.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Fedora 10 supports everything, well, you might have to install support for some things but yes, if it runs on Linux, you can run it on Fedora 10.

    Hai,

I've installed Fedora10-i386 in my system....It installed without any problem except that the mouse pointer was not visible during installation. After installation too, the mouse pointer is not visible which is very unconfortable to me.The mouse is detected and it works fine but the mouse pointer is not visible.
I tried to change "XCursor Theme" in /etc/X11/xdm/Xresources file which was set to "whiteglass" by default. But I got an error message as permission denied.

    Any suggestions are appriciated!

    Thanks in advance...

    Execute this
    Code:
    su -
    nano /etc/X11/xdm/Xresources
Press Ctrl+X, Y and hit Enter key to save file.

Tried it....Again, I get the same error: Permission denied....

Also, It would be better, if i know what value should be set for the XCursor theme so as to make the mouse pointer visible....

How do you know that Mouse is detected and working fine?
Post the mouse section of /etc/X11/xorg.conf file here.
