K3B in KDE and Brasero in Gnome are default CD/DVD burner packages. Both packages are pre-installed in most of distros, easy to use and have Graphical Interface. There are also a lot of other command line and graphical tools available.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

If you want to use the command line, you can use an app called cdrecord. For GUI tools, you can use k3b, gnomebaker or brasero. If you are using RHEL, the GUI tools may not be installed by default, so you would have to use yum or rpm to install them.
