    DVD Questions

    Gentle People:

I am looking for the software tools to Rip, Compress, and Burn North American standard Video DVDs on RHEL 5 such that the resulting DVD will play in a DVD player.

Now I know that this can be done on Windows via products like DVD Decryptor, DVD2one, and Roxio.

Question are there simular tools (and directions for use) available to do this on RHEL?

Please note that I have found and installed DVDRip, mplayer, mencoder, CD/DVD Creator. So far these tools seem to lack some of the required functionality to be usable in this application.

    For example DVDRip:
    1) Dose not produce the expected output files.
    2) Hangs when the Rip is 75% completed.
    3) Takes 8-10 hours to compress (Transcode?) a DVD.

Internet searching produces a VERY large list of possible tools, BUT no resolution as to which tools are actually being used for this and similar applications.

    Thanks for the help.

To the best of my knowledge there are no commercially-available DVD movies that are legal to rip, compress, and burn. Therefore this discussion is inappropriate on this forum. Locked.
