Do you really have Redhat 9, released in 2003? Have you considered upgrading?

RH9 is an obsolete distro. I would suggest you to go for fresh install. There are tons of distro available. Check this Poll and pick any. Most of distros are free to download/install.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
