I'm running a 1501 (I think!) and it all works fine. The thing is there are differences in the hardware according to what you ordered.

The best solution is to download Ubuntu from here and burn it to disc. It is a disc image so do not try to extract it, but rather use Nero or something similar in Image Burn mode (if you're not sure what that is just let us know and we'll try to help).

After that, pop it into your drive and reboot. You will boot up in Ubuntu though it will not be installed - you are running in a live environment. This lets you try it before installing it and should give a good indication of how it will work with your hardware.
