    Connecting to WPA wireless network

Maybe this is an stupid question, but I am an absolute beginner in linux, and I have been searching the web for an answer to this for a whole week without having found an answer

I have installed Fedora 10 and Ubuntu 8.04 in a G4 imac computer. In both cases, when I click in the network icon to connect to my wireless network, I select it. The dialog window that comes up asks me for the password to the network, and has a drop-down box to select the type of network security. My problem is that WPA is not an option, and my network is WPA protected! Is there a way to put WPA as an option in that drop-down list?

I'd rather solve this issue than change the security in the network, which would force me to change the configuration of another three computers plus two network printers...

Thanx in advance for your attention.

You need an app to enable WPA. At least for Ubuntu it is in the repositories. For Fedora i'm not sure.
    Have a look here
Google for "wpa_supplicant" and you can find more answers about installing and using it

Charles, Mike, Thanks for your replies.

wpa_supplicant is installed in both systems. Actually, and following hints found in previous searches, I have even been playing with some config file call "interfaces" within the /etc/network directory (mainly commenting in&out different lines - I do not dare to touch beyond that )

But I still come across the same problem: when I click in the network icon to select the wireless network, and the dialog box appears, no WPA option is shown in the dropdown menu.

By the way, and in case someone is wondering, I believe that the wifi card supports WPA because I connect to the WPA network from OSX with zero problems...

    Thanx again, anyway.
