I have no idea what dspace is. Maybe if you have specific questions, then posting them might help. If the problem is caused by general issues rather than something related directly to the package I might be able to help. Or other people who have some knowledge will see the question and may know an answer.

DSpace is an open source software package that provides the tools for management of digital assets, and is commonly used as the basis for an institutional repository. It supports a wide variety of data, including books, theses, 3D digital scans of objects, photographs, film, video, research data sets and other forms of content. The data is arranged as community collections of items, which bundle bitstreams together.

If you have no sql experience/apache experience and general Linux experience, i suggest you get someone who is qualified to help you physically, to set this up.

I understand, but as i've stated above, you probably need experience in all 3 to get a setup like this going.

Database wise, you can ask specific questions but we cannot help you with a general question and this is a non standard application too.

We would like to help... but this is more of a general knowledge forum. I have heard of Dspace but can't say I know a thing about it! And you say you can't even open the homepage yourself??
Kinda hinders our ability to coach you, ya know?
I have NO experience with SQL, but I'm willing to bet that if you were able to post a specific question, someone here would be able to help.

By the way... Welcome to LinuxForums!

404 means you've probably got an apache permissions issue of some kind. I'd hazard a guess at some kind of apache config problem. What does it say in your logs (specifically /var/log/httpd/access_log and /var/log/httpd/error_log)? These should give you a hint about what is failing. If you cant understand the log entries, post 'em up here and we'll try to help.
