Exclamation Problem with sound = "ICH4" "Realtek ALC650F"

I did a fresh install of fedora 10 and while over all the install was quite easy I have no sound. I am so sick of windows and thier bull crap i have no desire to change back to a windows OS so i would luv to fix this. I do have some linux experience but not enough for this problem. A friend told me to make sure my system was not muted so i ran the command "alsaunmute" and came up with this:

    Unknown hardware: "ICH4" "Realtek ALC650F" "AC97a:414c4723" "" ""
Hardware is initialized using a guess method

Any help would be greatly appericated.

    Hello and welcome.
Try running the alsaconf command in a terminal window, this should recognize your card.

Thanks for the quick reply. I ran the command and came up with this:

    # alsaconf
    -bash: alsaconf: command not found

    Now this doesn't look good.

It's ok, we can try another way. Type this code into the terminal window as root.
    Code:
    system-config-soundcard

I got the same message as before:

    Code:
    # system-config-soundcard
    -bash: system-config-soundcard: command not found

Well dang, I haven't used Fedora in a few months, did they rape it while I wasn't looking?
I guess you might need to install it.
    Code:
    yum install system-config-soundcard
I'm not sure if the above command will work or not so use yum to do a search
    Code:
    yum -s system-config-sound
Try browsing the system menu, system>preferences>hardware>sound

Alright lets see here, when I do the search i come up with this:

    Code:
    # yum search system-config-soundcard
    Loaded plugins: refresh-packagekit
Warning: No matches found for: system-config-soundcard
    No Matches found
When i go to install it I get this:

    Code:
    # yum install system-config-soundcard
    Loaded plugins: refresh-packagekit
    Setting up Install Process
    Parsing package install arguments
    No package system-config-soundcard available.
    Nothing to do
When i search the system menu all options show auto detect expect for sound capture and defualt mixer tracks: sound capture = ALSA & default mixer tracks = Intel ICH5 (ALSA mixer)

Now under every tab when I check to see if I have any options to choose from I have:
    Intel ICH5 with ALC650F Intel ICH5 IEC985 (alsa) & OSS.

Try adjusting all the volume meters with alsamixer command. I'm thinking if the menu shows "ALSA & default mixer tracks = Intel ICH5 (ALSA mixer) " It's got to be installed already.
Try installing alsa-utils or alsa-tools with yum.
I think one of these packages will install alsaconf, which should simplify this whole process.

i ran the install command for the alsa-utils and it said i already had them install with the latest version.

then i ran the alsa-tools install command and it installed "alsa-tools.i386 0:1.0.19-1.fc10".

i checked and set all the volume controls to 75%, "all the sound controls i could find that is".

this is fun in a wierd sort of way (LOL)

Ok, after installing alsa-tools, can you run alsaconf now?
