Need advice about new install
Hi,
I am about to hire a dedicated server at a data centre with Centos on it and feel I best set up a box with Linux at the office so I can do what I need before uploading to the online server.
I do have a 4 disc set of Fedora Core 3 that I got a couple of years ago so am installing that as I write.
I would like to know, if there is much difference between Centos 5.2 and Frdora Core 3 ?
I only want to set up a server with some websites so my needs are basic. As long as what I do on the Fedora box will react exactky the same on the hired Centos box.
I image also that I will need to get all the updates to the Ferdora I have as it is 2 years old.
I appreciate any help, advice and suggestions.
Best..

Welcome to the forums!
If you want to match CentOS as closely as possible, I wouldn't recommend installing Fedora Core 3 because it's going on 5 years old now and it will be very different from CentOS 5.2
If you want to install CentOS 5.2 you can download it from here:
www.centos.org - centos.org content
...or if you want the latest version of Fedora, you can get it from here:
http://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/publiclistoz

Many thanks..
Yes I am downloading Centos 5.3 now.
On the centos ftp site I see all the directories for 5.3 and am taking them all down now but as I am using FF FireFTP it said the DVD .iso was too big.
Do I need that 3GB iso?
Also with this install do I get options for Gnome, Word process ing and all the usual interfaces one gets with Red Hat or Fedora?
Thanks again
