Hi,
I am running RHEL4 and runnig samba.Suddenly users failed to access the server and I tried to login into the server it failed.Without any error message.Once I tried to restart it the by ctrl-alt-delete it shown the below said error.


password;shutdown;warning;cannot open /var/run/shutdown.pid
init;switching to runlevel ;6
init ;sending the term signal
init;cannot execute/etc/rc.d/rc
init;no more process left in this runlevel.

Not able to reboot or shutdown the server nor able to get into it.Forcefully shutting down it makes to get into the login screen without any results.No user access on samba not able to login inside.This is not surely the case of wrong password.
What is the workaround for the same?
