DNS issues/Sendmail

I have a server with windows 2003 which host a domain for me provides dhcp and DNS as well. I need to set up a server a linux server with send mail.

I know dhcp and dns is work fine as I get an IP and can ping the server by its FQDN.
the problems comes with setting up send mail.

I got to my bind configurations and create a new zone. I point my authoratative server to my dns server which is actually xerov11a.com I give it and ip and edit my resolv.conf file I add the mx record with the ip to my linux server and proceed to set up sendmail. In my local-host-names it contains the address of my mail server mail.xerov11a.com.

When I go to a work station and telnet into the servers ip on port 25 and type helo world I get a response from my email server. Unfortunately when I try to set up an outlook account it tries to find the server and can not. I am not currently at school and on the server. so I don't have direct feed back.

Can anyone give me an idea as to what I might have done wrong or in general how to point my linux server to my dns server or vice versa.

I would request you to do the following,

If you are trying in outlook express from a different network, you have to register your domain first.

Anyway, confirm your self if iptables settings are ok..

You have to check the settings in oulook express, i mease e mail server IP address and portsd value.

Please post your error , so that I can try more for you.

Ok so I added a new zone and created a MX record on my 2003 server we gave it an alias and points to my mail server. We can now connect with the mail server when we try to send mail between to users. we get the following error

The message could not be send because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was 'cberry@xerov11a.com'. Subject 'Yow', Account mail.xerov11a.com' Server:, 'mail.xerov11a.com' Protocal: SMTP, Server response 450.4.4.0<cberry@xerov11a.com>...relaying temporarily denied. Cannot resolve PTR record for 192.168.4.106, Port 25, Secure(SSL):No, Server Error: 450, Error Number 0x800CCC79
