Assuming you are already a Solaris sysadmin, then I would suggest you get some Linux sysadmin books. Migrating user data is simple. Depending upon the level of system security you are using, passwords may or may not be easily moved (simple enough to try). Most shell scripts should continue to work OK as Linux supports bash, ksh, csh, sh, and others. Services are another issue. Can you provide some specifics?

Linux does support NIS and NIS+ along with LDAP, etc. There may be some differences in where configuration files are stored and where the startup scripts should be placed, and there may be some differences in the startup requirements for them. This is where specific Linux sysadmin knowledge is important. I manage my own workstation, and I do some kernel driver development, but I wouldn't consider myself a full-blown sysadmin as there is just too much in that arena that I am clueless about.
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
