Data Recovery Problem After Winxp & Fedora Installations
Issue Details:
My hard drive has 2 partitions. I installed first winxp on partition 1 and Fedora 6 on the other partition. At the last steps of installation I tried to install the default grub on partition 2 where i installed linux, but since it didnt succeed I allowed grub to be on my winxp partition. I am not sure if grub was actually installed on winxp active boot partition or it has written on MBR.
Anyway, it worked good for 2 weeks. Then suddenly one day, when system starts it says "Operating system not found". I searched through internet to get some ideas to fix this problem. I have some important data on winxp partittion which i need to recover.
Actions taken:
- I used super grub disk to uninstall grub from MBR.
- Then I tried to fix mbr from grub disk - didnt succeed.
- I also tried other command from grub disk but not getting any success.
- So i went for fixmbr command with my winxp recovery console. it fixed.
- fixboot also worked fine. Tried bootcfg command but didnt turn out to see any results. Now, when I start system it says NTLDR is missing.
Any idea what i need to do further to fix this issue?

Have you fixed the issue? this may help ... you can always boot from a live CD and copy data to another drive.
