    SAN help

    Dear all,

Please let me know where to find some resources for configuring and troubleshooting SAN in a RHEL 4 environment.
Would be great if it's discussed in a HP blade envronment. I don't mind even if it's not.

    Thanks in advance.

We need much more information than this. Please provide details about system hardware, software (including version #s), configuration details, and more specifically what the problem is. If this is an HP box, and you are using HP-provided software, then I would have to say that for general troubleshooting information you should check with HP.

    Rubberman,

    Thanks for the reply.
System hardware is HP Blades with blade enclosures.
Software would be Linux RHEL 3/4/5
Multipathing is either HDLM or DMP

Hope this help. I need to know the ways we could eradicate "SCSI error" upon single path faliure, How to add storage and grow existing filesystem without reboot. What general things to know about linux in the SAN environment.

    Thanks and regards

Don't know. Normally not, but for some devices in complex environments, such as your, that is possible.

Though it might be more necessary for the older distributions. You say you still have RHEL 3 systems in the cluster? Given the speed of change in this business, that is practically "antique"! It is less likely for the RHEL 5 systems, I think. My wife works in the computer division of Fermi Lab where they run thousands of clustered RHEL 4 and 5 systems. I doubt that they are still running version 3 ones, though it is possible. If I think of it, I'll ask her when she gets home tonight.

Rubber, thanks mate. We have a very less number of RHEL 3s but mainly it 4/5. I'm trying to understand how the debug/trobleshooting should go in when it comes to blade enclosures and other SAN switches as the out perimiter from Linux. Would be great help if you could pass some stuff down to me.
