how do I activate ks.cfg automatically on DVD boot?
Hi,
I've been reading the faqs on the net regarding making a boot DVD for RHEL 5, and I gather that I need to create the ks.cfg and add it to the isolinux folder and then run mkisofs.
I have a couple of questions about that process:
1- do I understand it correctly?
2- how do I launch the installer and have it automatically use ks.cfg? I mean without entering anything on the boot screen.
If anyone knows of any pertinent faqs, please let me know.
Best Regards

I think, for that you need to have your own anaconda compilation on DVD.
O_o which is less likely to work. outside of red hat's development.
Have you tried PXE boot? that would make your PC boot with defined ks.cfg on your tftp server. will work on what ever installation method you want to use.
but still, if i get any direct solution i will notify soon.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply,
I already have a PXE/network/NFS boot going, and it works fine.
I just need to put it all on a DVD and install on a remote server with no pxe or network depot.
I have the DVD made and I can boot it, and I type linux ks=cdrom:/ks.cfg at boot to make it load.
I'm just confused because now everything will be on the dvd and the links that I have now that point at packages on the network all have ftp:// to indicate the location, I guess I can use cdrom://
I'll have to experiment with it. I guess i was just looking for people who have already done to leverage their experience with it.
