    General Help

    Hi

Wondered if anyone could help i was using ubuntu for about a year or so and just switched to Fedora anyway most of the problems i have fixed using the vast amounts of help which there is around

But the one i have been struggling with for a while is Clamav now i tryed to install it though add and remove sofware however when i did it that way i got a transaction error so i did it though YUM instead with the commands

    su -

    yum install clamav

    then i did

    yum install clamav-update

now i can access clamav fine no issues and run a scan however it says the virus database is more than 7 days old.

I had alook around how to update and freshclam i think is suppose to update it however if i run freshclam i get errors saying i need to config the freshclam.conf, so i found that file but tbh i amj not sure what i am suppose to be doing with it to get it to work.

On a side note if theres no point me having a virus sweep then pls say its just a linux rig theres no MS windows at all.

Thankyou for any help and if any other info is needed pls ask i may have left out some things you need to know still a noob atm i am afraid.

You have to save it as root, and it might need to be owned by root as well. You should su - root and then copy it to /etc/freshclam.conf
