Hello,

I need to detect the presence of all printers in a network and obtain information regarding it's MAC and IP address. My setup is basically a linux computer + a windows computer (XP) + a wifi printer (Canon MP62 connected via a wifi router. I need to know, from the side of the Linux PC, the IP address of the printer. I tried using ping sweep to detect possible IPs, and then snmpwalk to the IP addresses in the hope of finding out which is a printer, but it results in a timeout error. Is my printer not capable of SNMP? I can't configure it as a network printer, so as of the moment, it's just a local printer installed on the windows machine.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
John
