Question [SOLVED] Uploading Pics to Fedora 9 (Live USB)

I am running Fedora 9 on Windows XP from a live USB and while the camera is recognised on the (GNOME) desktop with an icon, I cannot upload pictures, or if I have cannot find them. Also I have got an inch wide black border on the RH side of the screen I cannot get rid of. I would appreciate help, please.

One thing to remember, anything you do on a LiveCD distro, will be wiped out when you reboot. That is unless you have made a persistent install on a USB drive.

To get at the pictures, the camera should be mounted in the /media folder. It will mount it just like a USB drive.

For the display problems, this is most likely caused by the driver or driver settings. Using a proprietary driver usually will improve this, and ATI and nVidia have their own Linux drivers freely available. Sometime they can be installed from a repository. Enabling the third party repository RPM Fusion will usually make these drivers available for install. Not knowing the make of your graphics card, I can't recommend anything further.

Thank you VERY much for the quick and helpful reply. And amazingly I was typing a letter when I got e mail about it! I have to admit I don't quite understand all that you say but do know where to start and what to ask others. I also note, understandably, your limitations on further action.

    Hi and Welcome !

Execute df -h command in Terminal and check if it lists device name assigned to Camera along with space usage.
    Execute this
    Code:
    sudo fdisk -l
sudo lspci | grep -i vga
    Post output here.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

A big 'thank you' to the kind contributors who tried to help with my problem uploading pictures to Fedora. To be honest I run Windows XP and a laptop running Vista and both are working fine. But I like to learn and try other stuff. But I am having so many problems with this it is just not worth it. I am sticking with Windows that to me is great. It is so fast, stable and never sets a foot wrong. If I crash it it just has a short rest and sorts it out and says politely 'what job next? And as a relative learner that's what I need. Thanks again.
