Sound card installation in RedHat Enterprise 5
Dear All,
I am new to Linux,I installed Redhat Enterprise 5 on my Lenovo laptop but unluckily it did not automatically install my sound card,my sound card is "00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller",I will be highly pleased if some one tell me the driver and the procedure to install my above sound card

This is because Red Hat in an Enterprise Linux distribution. It is intended for servers and professional office use. There is little need for audio in those situations. It also uses an older kernel, which may be older than the laptop that you installed it in. It can't have a driver for hardware that didn't exist when it was released.
If you don't absolutely need to use Red Hat, I would recommend installing Fedora 10 instead. Fedora is the developmental arm of Red Hat. It has all of the latest developments and drivers that you may need. And more important, is that these drivers are enabled in the kernel. Where in Red Hat, many of the drivers have been disabled. Unless you have paid for Red Hat, you will not be able to use the Red Hat repositories to update the system, or add anything. You will have to manually do everything.
If you still want to try, then I recommend installing the latest version of Alsa.
