Need help with my graphics card on Fedora 10

I just today installed Fedora on my computer. and everything is going good except for watching videos and a slight lag when scrolling pages. The videos are horribly choppy, and my computer has never had a problem playing videos. I have an ATI Radeon Xpress 200.

How would I install any uninstalled drivers (if that's the problem)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

edit: I should mention that I have Desktop Effects enabled and I can use the cube without a problem.

I think I am actually going to get Fedora 8 and use that. I think I am asking too much out of my computer using F10. I think it will make a difference (not with the graphics card) in the performance.

If I encounter the same problems viewing videos I will be back.

I would stick with 10, as 8 will soon be nearing the end of its support life.
As far as performance, I always see a noticeable difference in Fedora by shutting down all the services that you don't need.
    Code:
    system-config-services
I shut down stuff like bluetooth, APACHE, SSH and so on. Things that I don't need. This also results in a more secure system
As far as uninstalling the drivers, what drivers... and how did you go about installing them?

I didn't install any drivers... reread what I wrote.

Thank you... I have stopped bluetooth I believe. I'll try to find other things that aren't neccessary and see if that makes a difference.

lol... you're right. I did read it backwards!
Anyways, Radeon drivers can be found at AMD's Driver & Support page. just look around for your model number.

    Thanks again.

After looking, I only found the Radeon X300 driver. I'm guessing that's Radeon Xpress 300.... I have the 200. Should I try it?

Thanks for the help and patience.

Later tonight, i'll post all of my processes that are running... Hopefully someone will be able to tell me which ones I absolutely need to run. There are A LOT of them.

I am just nervous ending a process that could be needed.

I think i'm just going to find another distro that my video card works with from the start.

I'll probably end up dual booting again, just so I can have the best of both worlds.

Ok, after finding the heart to try to get the driver(s) to work, I tried installing fglrx in Add/Remove Software. It installed (or at least seemed to), but when I open up the ATI Control Center I get an error message reading: "There was a problem initializing Catalyst Control Center Linux edition. It could be caused by the following.

No ATI driver is installed, or the ATI driver is not functioning properly.
Please intall the ATI driver appropriate for you software or configure using aticonfig."

    Anyone?

ATI drivers aren't included by default in any distro. They will still have to be installed afterward.

From everything I've seen so far, the X300 is supported, but not the X200. After installing fglrx-kmod, however, did you log out and log back in to allow the changes to try and take effect?

(I'm still looking for X200 support)
