    permissions

    After an rsync transfer from server a to server b
    a small amount of the copied files have some extremely strange properties!!

    the files are jpeg photos
    and the properties after the rsync transfer are as follows:

    Type: x-special/device-char
    size: 989.2mb (actual size is about 300k!!!!)
    MIME Type: x-special/device-char
    Modified : Thu 28 Dec 1916 07:10:11AM
    Accesed : Thu 20 Sep 2011 02:35:11APM

    and under the permissions tab is the following

    Owner:497652428
    group: -1344032008
    last changed: Sat 29 Dec 1923 03:08:34 PM

    And yes the system times are correct on both servers
