    Installing win programs with wine

I have f10 and i installed wine with
    yum install wine.
I try to test some win programs to be installed. The result:
total commander and foxit reader - the message was that the file cannot be found - despite the fact that for foxit reader, the interface of foxit was already open !!!
    winrar was installed perfectly !

Does anybody experiment something similar ?

I will also try to install the msoffice suite (i need it because in my office sometimes some documents are worked by several persons and some features in openoffice are not 100 % valid in msoffice - the numbering, the format are sometimes mismatched when working "in common")

    Thank you !

Some programs just do not work with Wine, be sure to check the Wine DB, it usually has notes or hints that will further your experiments.

I use Wine for playing games mostly and the occasional .exe zip files.

try upgrading wine by putting in these commands
    yum install fedora-release
    yum install wine
make sure you are the root user otherwise this will not work. to be root
    sudo -su
    once ots upgraded try again.
you might already have a latest version of wine though

I'd just jump back a step and ask how many of these need to be installed through wine.

Foxit reader is just a PDF viewer. Evince and Okular are both light and fast document viewers native to Linux. WinRar you won't need because rar is available on Linux. Once you install it all of the archive managers such as Ark and File-Roller will support rar files. There's no need to have several archive managers installed

For Total Commander, well that sounds like a graphical version of Norton/Midnight Commander. There are a host of alternatives to this too - check out this site.

My version of wine is 1.1.15.
My intention was not to install those programs in linux, but only to test how it works. My only need is MS Office, from the reasons that I explain at the beginning.
