[SOLVED] Server died and Recover Centos 5
My server died over night, I have no idea why.
I added two new 1.5TB drives and used a linux raid to mirror them, all was well everything was working normally. So I button her up and put her back in the rack.
I went to bed and when I woke up to check my email, the server was not responding. I went and checked it out and the machine seems to have locked up. I figure it was just overheating.
I reset the machine and now linux is not booting normally, complaining about segmentation faults and rc init files and other weird things. The login screen the defualt centos 5 screen didn't load correctly complaining about missing theme files or something. I tried to login going to console session, and that locked up the machine with the num and cap locks flashing.
Is this hardware failure or has the machine been tampered with?
*edit, memtest spitting out memory errors, looks like 1 of the 2 matching sticks of memory has failed*
Is there anyway to recover the O/S like do a repair install or am I going to have to do a wipe and reload and spend about 5 hours restoring configurations?

Have you tried to replace Memory Stick?
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

centos managed to recover itself after taking out the bad stick.
All is well.
I've already replaced both sticks of memory for the time being, while I RMA the kit back to corsair.
