[SOLVED] dual boot on linux and linux on same partition???
Hi,
I have rhel-5 & win-vista on my system.
Is there any way to install another linux (rhel-5 again) on the same partition as the earlier one?
Example:
I have my drive partition as /dev/sda &
/boot mounted on /dev/sda1
'/' on /dev/sda2.
My question is: Can I mount another /boot & '/' partn. on /dev/sda???I tried and failed. So any ways???
My problem is:
I have 2 OS running. Win-vista(has only 1 partn. C:/) & rhel-5.
How can I free some space and create another partition from already installed rhel-5
So, that I can install another linux distro on the newly created drive(/dev/sdb may be)????

Since RHEL needs 3 partitions (normally), /, /boot, and swap then I think you will need to create a couple of extended partitions and install the RHEL images there. Since NT requires a primary (not extended) partition, that takes one. Also, since the boot sector only supports 4 primary partitions, you will need to reinstall your current RHEL image on the extended partition.
That said, I haven't tried to do that. I usually use a virtual machine to install alternate OS images instead. It makes moving the OS to another system much easier
