    Brand New to Fedora-Looking for any IM program..

    Sorry if this is a repeat question..

    I've just installed Fedora 10 on my Dell laptop, totally replacing Windows, instead of doing a dual-boot, which I didn't see an option for, anyway..

    I'd like to be able to use IM, but I haven't seen any available for Fedora, and I'm hoping that I'm just not looking hard enough..

    Does anyone know of Yahoo IM available for Fedora?

    Hello and Welcome!

    Pidgin is probably exactly what you're looking for. You can install it from your package manager. Just open up a terminal, and execute as root:
    Code:
    yum install pidgin

    Thanks, but how do I become "root"? Sorry, but I'm seriously dumb about Linux.

    No problem!
    Just open a terminal (command prompt in the Windows world), type the following:
    Code:
    su -
    <your root password>
    While you're typing the password, you won't see anything getting put in. Not even *****. That's normal.

    Thanks. Seems to have worked. Now I have to find it.
