    [SOLVED] gedit desktop configuration file

I'm very new to fedora and I'm hoping this is a simple fix.

Through some stupidity of my own I seem to have managed to place the gedit desktop configuration file into the trash. Now gedit will not open.

The file name is Text Editer
The type is desktop configuration file
and the MIME type is application/x-desktop
    whatever that means...

    How do I fix this?
    Where SHOULD the file be?

    Welcome to the forums!

The easiest fix would probably be to restore it from the trash can, or try reinstalling gedit if you haven't done so already.

I agree with Ozar, just reinstall and that should fix it.

But for knowledge sake, .desktop files generally hang out in /usr/share/applications/

So it turns out that I was accessing the computer remotely while someone else was actually sitting at it using the same account at the same time and that seems to be what was causing problems.

Anyways, the file is back in the right place and everything seems to be working great.

    Thanks!
