Using default gateway for VPN
On my Windows machine, I have a PPTP VPN connection. I have the "Use default gateway on remote network" unchecked. This way, all of my data goes through my local connection except for the data that has to go through the VPN (in my case XMPP chat).
I installed the PPTP NetworkManager plug-in for Fedora 11 and I am able to connect to the VPN just fine. I have the routing option "Use this connection only for resources on its network" checked. After connected, I check my public IP address and it shows up as MY correct IP. However, when I try to connect to our chat client, which connects through the VPN, it's no able to connect.
So, I disconnect from the VPN, check the "Use this connection only for resources on its network" box, and reconnect. Now, I am able to connect to our chat client. However, all of my network traffic also goes through that connection.
There has to be a way to do this. Any ideas?
