booting problem
request help. I recently purchage a laptop model COMPAQ cq45-137tx with factory loaded Windows Vista Basic.
Ihave already using RHEL -4-Ux86-64 of 64 bit in my desktop, which i loaded in my laptop.
It loaded without any problem but while reboot after loading software as instructed by O S it stop after "Initializing Hardware...... Storage network". No further change and halt at "Storage Network". The kernel version is 2.6.9-67.
I am not sure but I have doubt that sound driver is not working.
Kindly help me to useRHEL in my laptop.

It's not really clear from your post where your problem begins. You had vista pre-installed and installed Red Hat with no problems, correct? So what does this statement mean?
after loading software to?? Red Hat?? Were you ever able to re-boot to either OS? Did you configure the vista bootloader to boot Red Hat? Did you install Grub bootloader to the mbr? Which bootloader are you intending to use? At what point in the boot process do you get that error message?while reboot after loading software as instructed by O S

dear yancek
Actually i mean that while loading from cd it has no problem. after completion of loading linux system asked to reboot to complete the loading of OS. And that time it is halted at "storage network". Actually the booting process should be "Storage network done.....ok" and then other process shown "ok" accordingly.
I have already loaded bootloader which is automatically loaded with rhel4. there is no problem to boot windows vista which i made the default os.
The sound hardware with my system is intel corporation 82801|(ICH Family) HD Audio controller.

Try loading agian and when it stalls let it be and see if it'll just fail there and continue.
If it doesn't, then reboot and there should be an option for "interactive boot" or some sort. Hit that and see if you can skip that particular piece of hardware.
