Are FC6 not being maintained anymmore ???
Hi all,
I got a batch of FC6 machines, for a long time the default updates and extras repos worked well, now yum just can't find the repositories anymore !! when checking the addresses in a browser you notice the repositories are emty , if the baseurl is uncommented it gives you an error:
Error: Cannot open/read repomd.xml file for repository: updates
Daos anyone has a sample file that works for updates and extras ???
Many thanks.

Fedora maintains support for two releases, dropping maintenance on a release one month after a new release.
Since Fedora 11 was released less than one month ago, Fedora 9 is still supported, but reaching the end of it's support cycle. Since they release a version about every 6 months, the support for a version is usually 13 months.
You can use Fedora 6 without updating it. If you want to install new software, there are some places on the internet where you can still find Fedora 6 .rpm files. You will have to download and manually install them. Otherwise, you can always compile from source.
You could also try a fresh install of Fedora 11. Updating a Fedora 6 install to Fedora 11 isn't recommended, as too many problems will result. So back up any important files first.

Fedora Core 6 is not supported by Fedora Team now ( Check End of Life details here ) and you won't find any updates for it. I would suggest you to install latest version, Fedora 11.
Upgrading Fedora Core 6 to Fedora 11 will not work because there is a lot of time gap between these two and there are too many changes in latest version. It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
