remote access solutions/freenx as non-root user?

    Dear All:

I have non-root access to a CentOS machine. I would like to run a program off the machine (matlab). Ssh -Y is too slow, VNC is ok. I would prefer to use FreeNX but it seems the RPMs are not relocatable and thus not installable as end-user under fakeroot.

Is there another good remote access solution besides VNC or perhaps some kind of seamless window VNC for centos?

    Thank you
    Misha

Have you already installed matlab on the CentOS system? And, beside personal preference for FreeNX, is there any reason why you cannot use VNC? You seem to say that it performs adequately for your purposes.
