    Ok, from the error messages you're getting it looks like your sync ranges are wrong for your monitor/display card configuration. Also, you only have one screen configured at the very end of your xorg.conf, "1024x768". Try first adding two more values to it to make it look like this:

    Note the "800x600" and "640x480". This may allow X to start up in a lower resolution. If not, we'll have to address your vertical/horizontal sync problem.

    I have followed yur advice but no luck , so now we should tackle syn rates. I provided sync rates for my monitor while installation, now do I need to edit any other places as well for them? If yes, please guide me in it.

    If you provided the sync ranges during installation, from where did you get them? I get the impression from the errors X is giving you that those sync ranges were incorrect. Usually you can find these in the manual for your monitor or on the box. You could also do a search for sync ranges of other monitors of similar size and resolution (for instance, I have a 19inch TFT that has 30-81 kHz horizontal and 56-85 Hz vertical syncs and does a max of 1280x1024 resolution).

    I lost the manual so I googled for specs, and I found accurate for my monitor. I provided them i nX Configuration, but one thing which is bothering me is that I didn't choose any generic monitor, I just provided the rates for default GSM monitor, is this the problem? Or should I provide those rates anywhere else?

    I'm not sure on this one, but *I think* as long as you game xfree86cfg the correct sync ranges and max resolution, it shouldn't matter what "kind" of monitor it is, as those are the important parts.

    Hmm..... so there's a way I can change those values again? Where do I need to edit, I should try all values again. By the way, my monitor supports 1024x768 with 67 Hz refresh rate, and in config it is 60 by default, can this make problem?

    As far as I know, the sync ranges don't have to be exact (that's why they're ranges). To change your horizontal and vertical syncs, you edit this section of your /etc/X11/xorg.conf

    Ok, I am going to try this out, but before I shut down Windows also tell me how to provide 1024x768 with 67Hz refresh rate parameters, I would try both at once.

    To make your default resolution 1024x768, refer back to the post where I asked you to add "800x600" and "640x480" to that line in your "Display" section. As long as the first resolution listed is "1024x768" (it is in the sample you gave me), X will try this resolution first.

    To set a 67Hz refresh rate you'll want to refer to my last post, next to the VertRefresh. Whatever number is after that (right now it's 55-65) is the refresh X will try.
