White screen of death with compiz-fusion
I just started using Fedora (and Linux) this week, and was curious why the "Desktop Effects" option caused a blank white screen. After poking around on Google, I removed compiz and replaced it with compiz-fusion (using yum), complete with the fusion-icon startup program (which I added through the Sessions GUI). Now logging in always shows the white screen! I can access a terminal with ctrl-alt-f2, and I can rotate the "cube effect", but I can't get a desktop.
At this point I am thoroughly terrified and would simply like to recover my old windowing system. How can I undo my changes?
UPDATE: "killall compiz" got my desktop back! Now to see if I can prevent it from starting at login...
UPDATE: Resolved! Ok, removing the fusion-icon from startup items worked! Now, why did this happen in the first place...?Last edited by garaden; 06-24-2009 at 03:22 PM. Reason: Add new information
