how to save the environment variable setting

    Hi,

I tried to set some environment variable for my RedHat Linux. For example, I added this line to my config file /home/user/.bash_profile:

    export TEST=test

And saved that file and log off and log on again. But I still don't get that in my environment. I also tried /homt/user/.bashrc file, still does not work. Any idea on why?

    thanks.

It should work, unless for some reason the TEST variable name is special in some way that I'm not aware. What happens if you put the operand in quotes. IE:
    Code:
    export TEST="test"
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
